i forgot how to play guitar, so i just sat there bored and afraid to try acting like the world just passed me by numb eating popcorn you work a dead-end job to pay for gas so you can get to your dead-end job but your life keeps going whether you're there or not the brain is a beautiful place to visit sun shining down on all your worries and fears facts, opinions and tears floating around uninhibited waiting for you to flinch i don't care what the papers say i'm gonna find a way to find a way to do my shit 'till i'm sick of it until it's forced or broken weak and stupid rocking chair and barely lucid the brain is a beautiful place to visit sun shining down on all your worries and fears facts, opinions and tears floating around uninhibited waiting for you to flinch

took a ride to mystic chain park it was really something in its prime kids from the '50s singing doo wop songs kids from the '90s moaning from drugs gone wrong so wrong walked around mystic chain park kicked the coca-cola sign hard the dust rained all around me it was then that i fell into a dream where do good parks go when they die? are there dead kids waiting on swings and slides? is it like ribbon cutting day or the moment when the kids discovered video games? told a friend about mystic chain park so we walked the tall mountain grass he looked out, said "that's it? hey man, are you alright?" i said "i don't know"

other brother i remember fighting in your backyard our fists were up but neither would draw blood other brother it hurts me bad to think you might not be here so i don't think it at all isn't it always this way we fade apart instantaneously i'm calling you brother though i know you have your own though i know you have your own hit the water with a mighty splash smoked them all and just laughed jumped every wave that the ocean could throw you'll be fast as time moves slow other brother you disavowed the mysteries of your own disease and kept on rolling in somebody's light the seasons change but the love remains isn't it always this way we fade apart instantaneously i'm calling you brother though i know you have your own though i know you have your own

hey dad, is it cool if i have a friend over? could we sit up on the seat? "no, you are six and i'm hungover in the heat" a father has a right to have no responsibility to get arrested in the street no harm, no foul to get arrested in the street, where's the foul? oh god, we're gonna do the visitation thing go to a diner, you're tall enough to turn the tv to dbz a father has a right to not be seen and now it's year sixteen, what's the rush? and now it's year sixteen, well, you know the rest would you believe the internet tracks your every ping? wish i could forget most everything a father has a right to run away breakneck towards the grave and await the day some kid drives two hours and fifteen minutes to say nothing i get knocked down, then i get up again you're never gonna keep me down i wondered why you didn't call again was it something i did brought you down? i feel so down, then i get right again, this won't always keep me down I'd knock you out, but then i think again you never taught me how to fight let's adjourn for now

about

Over the course of roughly 18 hours (spread out over many months), I recorded this collection of four songs that each mean a lot to me personally. There are themes of family, heartbreak, personal failings (and triumphs) and the inherent problems with personification, with occasional references to Dragon Ball Z, Chumbawumba and decades-old SNL skits for good measure. I wanted to prove to myself that I could make a "full band" EP by myself, but it couldn't have been done without the support and encouragement from my brothers in Traffic Nightmare, Colin, Johnny and Steve. I hope you find something worth holding onto here, because I sure did.
